16351 – PORTER, Frederic Liam Andrew

PORTER, Frederic Liam Andrew – Sadly passed away on June 11, 2015 in his 50th year. Liam is survived by his wife and best friend of 24 years Marta; daughters Gabrielle and Melissa; parents Antoinette and Bill; brothers Robert (twin), Ronald, and David as well as many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Liam was a loving husband, father, son, uncle and friend to all.

In his work, Liam was a high achiever, amazing leader, supportive mentor; but most importantly, he was a genuinely caring friend to every single person with whom he interacted in and outside of work. His loved ones will especially miss him, and will never forget him.

Mass of Christian Burial was held  on Thursday June 18th.

Liam was laid to rest at Glenhaven Memorial Gardens in the Resurrection Catholic Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made online in Liam’s name to the Soldier On Fund (Support Our Troops), part of the Canadian Forces Morale and Welfare Services.

I knew both Liam and Robert at CMR and then had the pleasure and opportunity to serve in Valcartier with Liam. I even remember Marta and my wife attending pre-natal exercises session at the city pool. Liam was simply a great person; fun to be with and very professionnal. This is a shock to me and a sad reminder that life is short and that every moments with the family must be cherished. My sincere condolences to Marta, Gabrielle, Melissa and family. He will be missed by all, no doubt.

I just heard this sad news at the Reunion Weekend in September. Liam was Signals O at 1 RCHA, Lahr, when I was Technical Adjutant. He was an excellent comrade and very professional; the Sig troop were very loyal to him and I enjoyed many a happy hour in his company. He spent an inordinate amount of time looking for a flat on the economy, especially worried that Marta would be comfortable when she arrived in Germany. An excellent soldier, a loving husband (and later father) and a good friend. He will be missed! My sincere condolences to Marta, Gabrielle, Melissa and family.
