    Dear Editor,

    A simple query and request.

Query: Why are some student numbers of ex-cadets in the news provided while others are not? Though occurs for both ROTPs/RETPs, I generally notice it more often for UTPNCMs (full disclosure, I was in the UTPNCM program). I know LCdr Greg Walker (we were in Otter Squadron in the late 90s – early 00s). As a club member, I know that a master list of student numbers exists. So, seeing his name prefaced with ‘M’ does not fully acknowledge that he too is a proud graduate of RMCC. Most UTPNCMs graduated with a degree, were commissioned and earned the post-nominal ‘rmc’ – that is to say, succeeded in achieving the same four pillars as ROTPs and RETPs. With a large readership, the student number can quickly serve to identify the general timespan an ex-cadet attended the College and assist ex-cadets in identifying others who they may have otherwise, with name only, drawn a blank.

Request: If a student number is provided for one ex-cadet in the news, the same courtesy be provided to all others in this section or anywhere else in the publication.

    Respectfully,

M0824 Rick Melanson, CD, rmc, BA

Rick: Thank you for the comment below. Our intent is to always use college numbers – when we have them in our data base – which is limited. If you or any other reader can help us out by supplying the missing college number we will be ever grateful.
