Major Bertram (Bert) Frandsen (G1200, MA War Studies) had the privilege of serving as Military Faculty in the History Department during the period 2009-2012. After retiring from the Canadian Forces with 37 years service in September 2012, he has kept quite busy.

Bert completed his PhD in History from Wilfrid Laurier University in 2015 with his dissertation, “The Rise and Fall of Canada’s Cold War Air Force, 1948-1968.” He is an active volunteer with the Canada Aviation and Space Museum and the Canadian War Museum (Military History Research Centre). He is also an Associate Air Force Historian with the RCAF Office of History and Heritage (not bad for an Army officer!) He continues his research activities on various aspects of air force history and air power.

Bert lives in Nepean, Ontario, with his wife Kim, and their Sheltie, Emma.
