Monday March 20th – International Francophonie Day

Monday marks the International Francophonie Day.  For the occasion everyone is invited to Baronial Hall from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm for a meet-and-greet with Francophone authors; must-have books published in French, chosen by Faculty, will also be showcased. Coffee and pastries available.

That evening in Currie Hall at 6 pm, there will also be a projection of the critically acclaimed movie “Incendies” (2010) by Canadian film maker Denis Villeneuve (photo left), of “Arrival” fame.  “Incendies” was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language film, and won numerous international awards. English subtitles will be displayed.

Lundi 20 mars – Journée internationale de la francophonie

On soulignera lundi la Journée internationale de la francophonie.  Pour l’occasion, tous sont invités à la salle baronniale de 11 h à 13 h 30 pour rencontrer des auteur(e)s francophones ; il y aura aussi une vitrine d’ouvrages indispensables publiés en français, choisis par le corps professoral. Café et pâtisseries sur place. 

En soirée, à 18 h dans la salle Currie, il y aura une projection du film « Incendies » (2010), du cinéaste canadien Denis Villeneuve, aussi connu pour « Arrival ». Ce long-métrage, en nomination pour l’Oscar du meilleur film de langue étrangère et applaudi par la critique, a remporté de nombreux prix internationaux.  Les sous-titres anglais seront à l’écran.
