6611 Doug Cope: The Roadants – Still available…
Need to buy a Christmas present or do you just want a good read? If you do then the memory-reviving large novel, The Roadants, written by ex-Roadant, Doug Cope, is recommended. The Roadants is truly a must read for ex-cadets, particularly ex-Roadants.
For those who attended Roads, regardless of their year, this book is a chance to revive old memories: both the painful ones and the good ones.
One ex-Roadant noted that “…In addition to the fact that it [the book] was well written and a good read in and of itself, it recreated two of the most memorable years of my life. It is amazing how Doug Cope was able to hit so many of the high points, and low points, of those years. Not much was missed. People and events that I hadn’t thought of in years were brought vividly to life. I now better understand the concept of recovering repressed memories.”
The book is not a series of vignettes but a story that covers a year at Royal Roads from the arrival of the new boys, the recruits, to the graduation for those who survived. The book has received enthusiastic reviews from both ex-cadets and civilians.
