The Stories of e-Veritas
Article by 25366 Anna-Michelle Shewfelt
e-Veritas quietly passed another milestone last week with the publication of our 8 000th article since we began working with our current system in August 2007. (Although e-Veritas has been around longer than that our current system only tracks it back that far.) As I was reminded this week by an Ex-Cadet that milestone represents more than just 8 000 articles, for each one of those articles is also a story. Some of those stories we’ve heard more than once, because that’s the kind of story they are, while other stories we’ve only heard briefly and still others exist that we have yet to hear.
When you get right down to it, the job here at e-Veritas is telling those stories, both the stories of life in the military college system at present and the stories of Ex-Cadets of all ages and backgrounds. As Ex-Cadets we share the common experience of time spent in the military college system but after we leave it our experiences differ greatly. We all take different paths and for that reason we all have stories. Some stories we tell freely while others we don’t (and that’s OK). Some of us will tell our stories with hardly a prompt while others have to be asked directly. And some of us dropped off the proverbial radar years ago and so our stories were never told because no one was around to ask.
e-Veritas is a place for stories and that’s what makes it special. These stories are a window into life at RMC, RRMC, and CMR, and times that don’t exist anymore. Furthermore, the people telling these stories won’t be around forever. So here’s to 8 000 more stories, stories new and old, good and bad, as we remember who we are and who we used to be.
