In celebration of International Women’s Day, the Athena Network hosted its annual speed networking event. This year, RMC cadets were given the opportunity to speak with over 40 past and present CAF members about a variety of topics including unit climate and mental health, career paths and progression, work/life balance, and life after RMC. Amongst our mentors we had the current as well as the future Commandant of RMC, BGen Sébastien Bouchard and BGen Lise Bourgon and our very first senior mentor LtGen (Ret’d) Christine Whitecross. The event had a great turnout and everybody enjoyed having the opportunity to have their questions answered. The Athena Network would like to thank everybody who attended the event and especially thank the many mentors who came to share their knowledge and advice.

Thank you to the RMC Foundation for providing financial support to make this event possible.

The event has received tremendous feedback both from the mentors and the cadets. Here are some of the comments we have received:

LtCol Amanda Aldous : I wanted to say how much I enjoyed the speed networking event last night! It was inspiring to see how many mentors and cadets were online, and it was very well organized. I sure wish this had been around when I went to RMC!

OCdt Hannah Stregger : This was so great, I’m so happy to have gotten the chance to talk to so many great people

LtCol Lydia Evequoz Lieschke : Thanks again for organizing this event. Although this was first and foremost for the Cadets’ benefit, I will selfishly say that it is inspiring and energizing to participate in such an activity.

Stephen Kalyta : I was honoured to attend on such an important date. What an impressive group of mentors and bright young mentees.

OCdt Maria Tran : Thank you for hosting an amazing event and thank you to our mentors!
