Birchall Leadership Award Update

Birchall Leadership Award Update

John Carswell

The 2017 Birchall Leadership Award Dinner is only a month away!  We are thrilled to announce that 11623 John Carswell and Canso Investment Counsel have become the Presenting Sponsor for this incredible event!

The committee, under the capable leadership of Hamilton Branch President 5337 Bob Carr and the President of the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum (CWHM) and former RCAF Pilot, Dave Rohrer, is working very hard to tie up all the last minute details to ensure this evening will be a huge success.

Saturday 28 October 2017, at this gem of a flying museum in Hamilton, is the date for this black-tie/Mess Dress event.  Festivities start with the unveiling of a new A/C Birchall Exhibit at the museum at 1700hrs.  The sparkling wine welcome begins at 1800hrs, followed by a four-course dinner.  During the evening, both RMC of Canada and RMC Saint-Jean colour parties will present their colours and the RHLI Band will perform.

This year’s Birchall Leadership Award will be presented to 13738 Col(ret) Chris Hadfield.

He will provide our keynote address after the presentation.

You will also be entertained by another Canadian legend, John McDermott, and there are many more surprises in store for you that evening.   Some of these include meeting past Birchall Award winners, members of the Birchall family, and posing with, or reserving a flight on, the museum’s Consolidated PBY – 5A Canso where you can see Air Commodore Birchall’s signature.  There are fabulous draw prizes and much to see and visit during the evening.

We are guaranteed to keep things running smoothly under the most capable guidance of our Master of Ceremonies, CBC’s Peter Mansbridge.

Sponsorship opportunities are still available for your company or organization to join our Presenting Sponsor – Canso, and our other generous partners:

Pioneer Energy / La Corporation du Fort Saint-Jean / Le Groupe Maurice / Bellwitter Consulting

ADGA Group / Mohawk College / Pratt & Whitney / Donville-Kent / Young Family / KPA Advisory

Power Corp / CAE / Bell Helicopter / Ellis Don / Union Vie / PAL / Blue Drop / Inter County Concrete / Waterford Group / Niagara Motors / Gypsum Technologies / Comfort Keepers

and many other individual sponsors.

Classes, buds, teams, Squadron mates, etc. – get together and book your table now!  Tables of 8 with a Sponsorship element are $2000; individual tickets are available at $200 each.

If you cannot attend, please consider sponsoring an Officer Cadet to attend.  As always, a tax receipt will be issued for the charitable donation portion of the ticket price; in the case of a Cadet sponsor, the receipt will be for the full amount.

We are hoping to sell out at 800!  Help us achieve this goal and remember that all proceeds from the event will support the Royal Military Colleges Foundation and the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum.

Great to see. I saw Chris Hadfield address my daughter and her classmates at Wesley College in Melbourne, Australia on 21 August 2014. He is much more than an astronaut/pilot; a very unique military officer who is most worthy of this accolade. Chris is a powerful inspirational speaker.
