Call for Creativity in the College Community: Arch∩L’Arc

OCdt Eliza Bruce (III), 27472, CWCM

Last year, in conjunction with the English Department, RMCC cadets launched the first publication of an RMC creative arts journal under a group called Arch∩L’Arc.  In the form of a small, classy paperback, this journal combined poetry, prose, photographs, and other styles of written and visual work, which were all produced and submitted for review and publication by students and college faculty alike.

This year, the members of Arch∩L’Arc (OCdts Chantel Fortier, Eliza Bruce, Liam Hovey, Alexandra Horeczy, Daniel McCall, Melanie Hughes, and Anna Dillman) are hoping to expand both readership and the pool of authors and creators, ideally reaching out beyond the Memorial Arch, across the bridge, and into the greater community of Kingston and the military body, as well as CMRSJ, QC.

The goal of Arch∩L’Arc is to unite military members and civilians in the area together within and without the college through a creative journal.

The Arch∩L’Arc committee also wishes to see more fictional/non-fictional prose submissions to celebrate the creativity of military members, the Officer Cadets, college staff, and personnel from the two military colleges, and students from St. Lawrence College and Queens University, with copies of the second issue to be distributed across all locations.  Arch has some exciting writing/creativity contests coming up very soon, and plans to integrate the idea of Arch as a student-run, professional journal publication throughout the college by an increased presence in college events are underway.

Arch∩L’Arc members believe there is a rich store of talent and meaningful voice to be drawn from college Alumni and Old Brigade, who have either remained in the military or transitioned into civilian life.  Arch would like to appeal to and request the written works (ie., original short stories, prose, poetry, mixed media art pictures or photography) of the ex-cadets of the Royal Military Colleges of Canada, is those interested might submit their works to the link below:
