Born in Toronto to W.W.G. Darling (RMC #4119 ) and Helen Wood Darling, Bill died in Orillia on Monday, January 22 from the effects of vascular dementia. He was married to his beloved nurse, Colleen Millar Darling (KGH ’59, Queen’s ’60) for more than 58 years. Predeceased by their daughter, Patricia(1960-62), Bill was the loving dad to Bill, Ted (Keltie Thomas), and Warren, proud granddad of Colleen (Mike Werry), Sam, Will, Gabby and Molly; delighted great-granddad to Aiden Werry; brother of Bob (Alison) of Winnipeg; and uncle to Sasha, Doug and Scott.

He then worked for CIL/ICI in Paints, Plastics and Purchasing, and the Ontario Energy Board.
Bill was a competitive diver and avid football player at RMC. His hobbies included collecting stamps, barbershop singing, refereeing basketball from biddy to university to officiating at the 1976 Olympics, bird watching, tending to the fireplaces at the Slow Lanes I and II, and playing tournament-level
cribbage with his sons and all who would dare.

He was often overheard saying, ‘I never met a beer I didn’t like.’

If desired, donations may be made to your favourite charity. Cremation has taken place and there will be no service. When the birds, flowers and warmth return, family and friends will meet to relive the happy times we all had together. Sincere thanks goes to the Simcoe County EMS,, the staff at Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital and Champlain Manor for care and kindness, as well as an extra large star for Dr. K.A. McIntosh’s crown.
