Because you can’t keep a good reader down….
Article by Dr. Erika Behrisch Elce
Last week, WO Chuck Ansell made e-veritas history by talking about Rudi Juliani’s Leadership. This week, he’s playing it safe with the “1,000,000 page” book referred to in last week’s article. The book is actually only 2,900 pages over three volumes, but it “feels like a million pages!” Shelby Foote, the author, is a narrative historian who walks the reader through the entire American Civil War. Warrant Ansell studied American History when he was posted to the US from June 2010 to July 2014, so it’s a subject he returns to over and over.
There are hundreds of books on this war; what’s different about this one? “The book covers all the big battles, little skirmishes, and everything in between. It flows like a novel, not a textbook, so it keeps me engaged.”
What’s new on the menu for this intrepid reader? “The next book on my list is a post-apocalyptic novel set in North Carolina…I’m all over the map.”
