RMC Professor in the Republic of China-Taiwan

Professor Lubomyr Luciuk (Department of Politics and Economics) is participating in a ‘Delegation of Canadian Scholars’ visiting the Republic of China-Taiwan. Organized by the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (Toronto) and the ROC’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the week-long visit involves an intense daily schedule of meetings with deputy ministers from the ROC’s Foreign Affairs and National Defence ministries and other senior officials, including, for example, representatives of the National Security Bureau, Mainland Affairs Department, Straits Exchange Foundation and Council of Indigenous Peoples. The visit’s primary purpose is aimed at furthering a better understanding of the Republic’s geopolitical, economic and cross-strait relationships as well as underscoring the importance of Taiwan’s historic and economic ties and shared values with Canada.
