21982 Adrian Rawle and 16107 Mike Loader are cycling from Toronto to Montreal with the Friends for Life Bike Rally – Can you join or support them?

On August 11, 21982 Adrian Rawle (class of ’02) and 16107 Mike Loader (class of ’87) will cycle from Toronto to Montreal as part of the 21st annual Friends For Life Bike Rally in support of the Toronto People With AIDS Foundation. This is a 600km ride from Toronto to Montreal over six days to raise money for people living with HIV and AIDS. We camp along the route and volunteers truck our gear from site to site and provide us with catered meals and snacks. Unlike boot camp, there are chiropractors and RMTs to fix our aches and pains.

This is the third year for Adrian, whose father and a brother will join him on the ride, and the second year for Mike. Adrian, Mike, and 10932 Henry D’Auchapt (class of ’76) met on last year’s ride and realized they’d all gone to RMC.

The Friends For Life Bike Rally is a great experience and they’d enjoy the company of any buds who are interested. For more information, feel free to contact them at rawleaj@gmail.com and mikeloader@gmail.com. You can learn more and register for the ride at http://bikerally.org. To support their rides, please donate online at:

Mike: http://bit.ly/sponsormike2019

Their route takes us through Kingston and they will cycle past RMC on August 14 around 9:30-10:30am. They’ll stop for a quick photo by the Arch. “We hope to see you on this year’s ride!”

Nice to see my classmate 10932 Henry D’Auchapt on the bike ride. Good luck to you and our colleagues on this excellent fundraising initiative.

    The Sailor 2

Did the Senior of the Silent Service
Make someone in Olde Bytown nervous?
Now free to tell his story!
How free to tell his story?
    The choice
Nowhere at last to go but out
    The voice
Not a whisper! Not a shout
    Perhaps a book
    Or TV show
    Who dares to look
    Who cares to know
No matter what or where your views
It’s now just yesterday’s old news
