Dr Hafiz Rahman retired a few years ago from the Electrical And Computer Engineering Department after a long career at RMC.

Hafiz has been selected an the inaugural winner of a Lifetime Achievement Award. It was presented recently at the Queen’s University Equity and Human Rights Tri-Awards ceremony. He has always been very active in the community and has previously also won the Padre Laverty Award for outstanding service to the Queen’s and Kingston communities.

Some time ago, 16888 MGen Al Meinzinger met the CO of an Air Cadet Sqn by chance at the Trenton Museum. His Sqn was visiting the Museum and they invited Al to speak to the cadets. The rfecently former RMC Commandant, was unaware they had taken photos and filmed the interaction. The Air Cadets were from 8  Globemaster Squadron, Richmond Hill.

26305 Daniel Cruz from the Royal Military College of Canada wins the 2017 Bozozuk Graduate Student Competition

The Kingston Section of the Canadian Geotechnical Society (CGS) along with the Ottawa Geotechnical Group has awarded the 2017 (41st) Michael Bozozuk Graduate Student Forum Award to 2Lt Daniel Cruz from the Royal Military College of Canada, Kingston, ON.  2Lt Daniel Cruz presented on The Geo-Mechanical Response of Axially Loaded Fully Grouted Rock-bolts Utilizing Fiber Optics Technology. He is completing his Masters degree under the supervision of 19930 Dr. Nicholas Vlachopoulos.

The Michael Bozozuk Student Forum is an annual graduate student presentation competition organized jointly by the Ottawa Geotechnical Group (OGG) and the CGS Kingston Section. This annual event has been held since 1976. The events are held in Ottawa and Kingston in alternate years. This competition has been named after Dr. Michael Bozozuk, who has been and continues to be a pillar of the Canadian Geotechnical community.  One graduate student from each of the following universities: Carleton University, the University of Ottawa, Queen’s University, and the Royal Military College is designated to represent their Universities at the competition.  The students prepare a presentation of their graduate research which is of interest to the geotechnical and geo-environmental fields. The winner is awarded a plaque which remains at the winning University for the awarded year and is offered free registration and travel support to participate in the Annual Canadian Geotechnical Conference (to be held in Ottawa this year). This year’s competition was held at the Royal Military College of Canada in the historic Currie Hall on Wednesday March 1, 2017.

La Section de Kingston de la Société Canadienne de Géotechnique (SCG) et le Groupe de Géotechnique d’Ottawa ont décerné le prix de la (41e) compétition d’étudiants diplômés Michael Bozozuk 2017, à 2Lt Daniel Cruz du Collège Militaire Royal du Canada à Kingston, en Ontario. 2Lt Daniel Cruz a fait une conférence intitulée  The Geo-Mechanical Response of Axially Loaded Fully Grouted Rock-Bolts Utilizing Fiber Optics Technology. Il complète présentement sa maîtrise sous la direction du 19930 Dr Nicholas Vlachopoulos.

La compétition étudiante Michael Bozozuk, est un concours annuel de présentation d’étudiants diplômés organisé conjointement par le Groupe Géotechnique d’Ottawa (OGG) et la Section de Kingston de la SCG. Cet événement annuel a lieu depuis 1976. Les événements de cette compétition se tiennent alternativement à Ottawa et à Kingston. Ce concours a été nommé pour Michael Bozozuk Ph.D., qui a été et continue d’être un pilier dans la communauté géotechnique canadienne. Un étudiant diplômé de chacune des universités suivantes: l’Université Carleton, l’Université d’Ottawa, l’Université Queen’s et le Collège Militaire Royal sont désignés pour représenter leur université à la compétition. Les étudiants préparent une présentation de leur recherche qui touche aux domaines géotechnique et géo-environnemental. Le gagnant reçoit une plaque qui réside à l’Université gagnante pour l’année décernée et on lui offre un enregistrement gratuit et un soutien de voyage pour participer à la Conférence annuelle de la SCG qui se tiendra cette année à Ottawa. Le concours de cette année a été tenu au Collège Militaire Royal du Canada dans l’historique salle Currie, le mercredi 1er mars 2017.
