13687 Jim Ryan Class of 1982 sustains serious injury in Hawaii

13687 Jim Ryan Class of 1982 (photo left) had a serious accident in Hawaii last week and is in ICU in Maui. The following is a note from his son 26346 Daniel (Class of 2015) former e-Veritas photographer.

“My dad is doing quite well despite his critical condition. He is 100% mentally healthy, but is currently paralyzed from the neck down. He wrote a letter today that shares his story and his thoughts. It has been shared on his Facebook, as well as mine and my mother’s. Please look there as he can say it better in his words than mine. Please share it with any friends that wish to know more information and aren’t friends on Facebook.

Currently he has a fractured c-4 vertebrae (but possibly could be from a earlier injury), and the spine is severely inflamed. There is no actual break of the spinal cord. This means that feeling and movement may come if the inflammation and pressure subsides. This is a big if. There is no way to tell, except to wait.

As for support, right now we just need people to keep us in their prayers and send us their love.
