piper1.JPGH4860 General (ret’d) John de Chastelain (RMC ’60) will be the guest keynote speaker at The 20th Commonwealth Humanitarian Gala Dinner – Friday, April 25, 2008. The Dinner will be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Ottawa. John will speak to “Building Peace – Lessons from Northern Ireland”.

Over the past 20 years the Royal Commonwealth Society’s Commonwealth Humanitarian Gala Dinner has raised over $180,000 for Commonwealth countries and causes through the voluntary effort and dedication of Society members.

Readers who will be in the Ottawa area on this date are encouraged to support this worthy event. Tickets are modestly priced at $80 for members ($85 for non-members), which includes a $25 charitable receipt. Tables of 8 and 10 are available. CARE Canada, one of Canada’s leading international development organizations which does outstanding work worldwide, has been selected as this year’s Commonwealth Humanitarian Organization and will be recipient of all the proceeds of the 2008 Commonwealth Humanitarian Dinner

Kicking off at 6:45 pm the Gala Evening features a Caribbean Reception (with appetizers) Slide Show Presentation of CARE Canada’s Kilimanjaro Climb, Auction of Commonwealth Gifts, A Raffle with Eye Catching Prizes and Great Company, including many Commonwealth High Commissioners, Government Officials and Business Leaders.
