Canada Remembers – 943 Billy Bishop – Entered RMC – 1911 ( 105 years ago)

June 2, 1917-Billy Bishop earned the Victoria Cross for his attack on an enemy aerodrome during the First World War ‪#‎WorldWarWednesday‬

Billy Bishop was one of the most famous fighter aces our country has ever produced and would earn 72 victories over enemy aircraft during the First World War. Captain Bishop, an officer with the Royal Flying Corps, was on an early morning mission behind enemy lines on June 2, 1917, when he single-handedly attacked an enemy airfield near Cambrai, France. He was credited with the destruction of seven aircrafts and was awarded the Victoria Cross for his courage that day.
