Flashback: Photos from 1962 – 1966

OCdt Kathleen Haddon made another visit to the College Photo Archives and came up with a few gems, covering many aspects of college life, from the 1963 – to 1966 era.

Unfortunately, most of the photos have very limited captions and / or background information.

We invite readers to take a trip down memory lane – feel free to leave a comment(s) regarding any of the listed photos.

Photo #3 – “Unknown Band” is The Ascots from 1963. From left to right we have Peter Fosbery, Eric Nazzer, and Rick Gilleland. I don’t know the two right-most guys. When I arrived from Royal Roads in ’64 I joined Peter, Eric and Rick to make up The Ascots Rev. 2. In ’65/66 we added a new drummer and a bass player along with two Go-Go girls from Queens. Needless to say, we played a lot of Beatles at the dances!

The photo “Obstacle Course, 1966” is actually a photo of the obstacle course run in September of 1970 by members of the Class of 1974. I can recognize four of my classmates in the photo and I recall that particular obstacle. It was the first obstacle of a long and exhausting course. But I remember well the elation we all felt when we were finished (and cleaned up) and wore our CSC pants and white shirts for the first time.

The “Obstacle Course 1962” is from 1964, featuring the class of 1968 (see Review 1965, page 113). The individual at the front of the picture is 7675 Ken MacAuley.

Thank you for notifying me Mr Macmillan, I have corrected it. Sometimes the photos I have have been poorly labelled so it can become a guessing game.
    Greatly appreciated,
    Kate Haddon
