In answer to your question, the photo of the “Old Eighteen” would have been taken sometime during the 1975-76 academic year. About 15 members of that group were members of the Class of 1977, and were our seniors when our recruit class entered in August 1976. Three of them (Hache, Parsons, and Robinson) were CSL’s that year, respectively leading 2, 7, and 8 squadrons. Hache eventually finished his career as a Colonel in the RCAF.

Mark Stokes (in front) was a III Year in my squadron (Brock). I believe he became the CWTO in his last year, and later became a pilot. John Mercer (back row) was also a III year, in his case in 3 Sqn. I believe he became D/CWTO in his final year, ad I know that he did serve for several years in the RCR. A number of years later, in 1984, I ran into him when we were both students in the MBA program at Western. He has since apparently done very well in business.
