Ottawa Branch Kicks Starts RMC Expedition Club Kilimanjaro Campaign with Major Donation
Article by Jennifer Jordan, RMC Foundation Fundraising Coordinator
Once again the Ottawa Branch has stepped up to the plate and hit it out of the park. The Branch, at their last regular meeting before the Christmas Break, agreed to provide $1000, or a Summit Level donation, to the RMC Expedition Club Kilimanjaro Fundraising Campaign. Since this donation was announced, a generous donor from the Class of 1969 has also agreed to match this donation making it our first personal Summit Level donor of $1000 since we launched the Campaign on Wednesday. The Ottawa Branch has been a proud supporter of the RMC Foundation providing more than $144,000 in support over the years to valuable projects such as this.
RMC Expedition Club Needs Your Help and Here’s Why:
The RMC Expedition Club is looking for your support today to help us reach the top …. literally…. the top of Mount Kilimanjaro. The RMC Commandant, BGen Sébastien Bouchard, has approved our request for the Expedition Club to participate in our first large scale expedition in several years.
Mount Kilimanjaro, located in Tanzania, is the highest peak of Africa sitting at 19,340 feet. This expedition will test many of the skills required of future CAF Officers including leadership, teamwork, operational planning & training, mental resilience, and physical stamina…..while at the same time developing individual self-confidence, self-reliance, self-discipline and self-esteem. Nine deserving Cadets, chosen through a highly competitive selection process, will carry out this six-day trek between 27 December 2019 and 5 January 2020.
To make this once in a life time opportunity a reality we are working with the RMC Foundation to secure $45,000 in support. The Ottawa Branch has provided a $1000 donation to help us Kick Start this fundraiser and show their support to the Expedition, and we have a personal Summit Level donation from a donor from the Class of 1969, but your support is still needed. We are seeking the help of individual ex-cadets, ex-cadet Club Branches, ex-cadet Classes, private sector entities as well as friends & families. All donations to the RMC Expedition Club will receive a 100% tax receipt.
How Will Your Donations Be Recognized?
Donations will be acknowledged as follows:
• Bronze/Base Camp Circle ($50)
• Silver/5,000 Ft. Circle ($100)
• Gold/10,000 Ft. Circle ($250)
• Platinum/15,000 Ft Circle ($500)
• Summit Circle ($1000 +)
Donations will be included in individual and Class lifetime giving, and will be acknowledged on the RMC Foundation social media accounts, the website and published in E-Veritas as our thank you. All donations of $250 or more will receive an electronic memento from the Expedition Club team.
We hope we can count on your support today! Donating is so easy, just visit the RMC Foundation at https://rmcfoundation.ca/ways-to-give/donate-online/ and click on the “RMC Expedition Club” option, or call Jennifer Jordan at 613-541-6000 ext 6807.
