Phil Cowie Award Presented at 15 Annual RMC Varsity Rugby Banquet

“Without our donors there would be no funding available”

Article by Jennifer Jordan, RMC Foundation Fundraising Coordinator

Saturday 27 April was the 15th Annual RMC Varsity Men’s Rugby Banquet at the Senior Staff Mess, where players past and present enjoyed a great meal, lots of laughs, and an awards presentation.  Special Rugby Alumni in attendance included 25741 Colin Carswell (Class of 2013), 26569 Maxwell Williams (Class of 2016), and Guest of Honour 23833 Mike Veitch (Class of 2007).

Coach McDonaugh spoke to players and guests about the life long relationship and the brotherhood that comes from being a member of the RMC Rugby Team and reminded them that the friendships forged on the field will stay with them forever.  As Coach noted, the reason that the program is so successful is because of our Alumni.  Without our donors there would be no funding available for a second’s team, or new kit, or travel money for tournaments.

After retiring player and individual team awards the Phil Cowie Award was awarded to 27950 Thomas Weissenborn (Class of 2020).  For the full video of the Phil Cowie award please see our Facebook page @RMCFoundation1966.

Congratulations to Mr. Weissenborn on this great accomplishment and thank you to our Rugby donors who continue to make the difference for these young men.
