Poems Earn $1K for Soldier On Fund

The Power of Poetry- Captain Rae Joseph, Platoon Commander for Integrated Personnel Support Centre Kingston accepts a $1000 cheque on behalf of Soldier On from Professor Erika Behrisch Elce and her ENE100-3 English class at RMC Fri., Apr 12. Each student wrote a poem on behalf of a member of the Canadian Forces and RMCC, or on the topic of the College itself, and they sold these books for charity. All proceeds of the fundraiser were donated to the Soldier On Fund. The CF’s Soldier On program was founded in 2006 as a joint initiative between the Department of National Defence and the Canadian Paralympic Committee (CPC) to empower retired and serving members of the Canadian Forces with an injury (visible or non-visible) to accept their “new normal” by adopting an active lifestyle through participation in physical, recreational or sporting activities. I enjoyed reading the collection of poems. I was impressed by the variety and depth of emotion in the collection. I think it is a terrific idea for a fundraiser. TDV.
