Colonel George Lackonick, the Colonel Commandant of the Communications and Electronics Branch, shared his foot-care ritual. “I soak my feet, and I’ve got a set of wooden rollers that I use after marching to massage them,” he said. “In the morning, I rub Vaseline into each toe and the arch. I wear a silk-type inner sock, and I put a good hiking sock over that. I’ve never had a blister.” This is his ninth Nijmegen.
