Reunion Weekend: First Year Obstacle Course

2013 First Year Obstacle Course

Historically the day the Obstacle Course is run the weather is not good; even nasty at times. Hopefully, this is a good omen for the Class of  2017. The day was beautiful and full of sunshine, much contrasting to the dirt and water that coated the cadets involved. The Obstacle Course consists of 12 obstacles, each one being the responsibility of a particular Squadron. The obstacles range from rope bridges to tasks carrying sandbags and even a 12 foot wall. The nature of the obstacles also demanded that teamwork and motivation be used at all obstacles to succeed and bring every team member through. The course ended in tears of relief followed by a presentation of the first years student coins (engraved with their student number) and a good old RMCC pier jump. We hope to release all the results next week!

Had an absolutely awesome time at the reunion week-end! Wonderful to see our sons and daughters working so well as teams, seeing them all cleaned up afterwards in their number 4’s – so proud. Thank-you to the e-veritas volunteers for keeping us up to date on all the goings on. Enjoyed the saturday breakfast very much.

Many thanks!!! For we parents who were unable to attend because we are on posting in Kazakhstan, these pictures and the write ups are immensely precious.

Reunion weekend was simply amazing!! This was our first in person glimpse of the college and all it offers.
We couldn’t be more proud of our son and your sons and daughters for the incredible effort and achievement they have earned!
    Well done!

What a great weekend, first time I saw my son in two months. All the young men and women did so great in the obstacle course and I am sure are so glad to be done FYOP!!! Thank-you to all the wonderful people who put e Veritas together. It helps us parents feel like we aren’t missing out!!! I flew from Victoria BC to partake in all the weekend events but I can’t always come.

Many thanks again for your supreme effort in keeping parents up-to-date on our cadet’s progress through FYOP, and completion of the Obstacle Course. The weekend was a great success, and we look forward to enjoying many more in Kingston over the next four years.
