It was my pleasure, as a former Secretary-Treasurer of the Vancouver Island Ex-Cadet Club, to have known both 8241 Mike Caines and 9318 Dave Bindernagel when they were Commandants at Roads – and when they subsequently retired to the Island as members of the Club. Yours aye, Ron

As an addendum to Rod Capern`s remarks, I would like to add that I am a member of the same regiment as Mike Caines (le 12ieme Regiment Blinde du Canada) and it was my very great pleasure to have served under Mike`s tutelage (command) in the mid `70s. As a Roadent, it was also my great (and unexpected pleasure) to have actually been a guest with my wife, staying in the Commandant`s Residence (who`d of thunk it?)when Mike was the Commandant. I also was on parade in `95 when Dave Bindernagel took the parade for the Royal Roads shutdown (a very sad day). Dave read a poem at the Parade that I have unfortunately misplaced, but it captured what it meant to have attended Royal Roads, and I found it very moving. If you could find it and send me a copy or perhaps publish it again for all of the Roadent community, I would be most greatful.
